2014-2015

 

Quarter 1: Plants: Parts of a Plant, Life Cycle of a Plant, Basic Necessities of Living Organisms, and a focus on local plants of the island.

 

--- There will also be a focus on local fruit bats and their presence in American Samoa.

 

 *I plan on getting a guest speaker who is a Wildlife Biologist with the Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources to come and speak to the students about his work with the local fruit bats and their importance to the area.*

 

** We will try to schedule a field trip to the National Park of American Samoa to see the local plants of the island.**

 

 

Quarter 2: Mythology (Greek, Roman, and American)

 

--- There will also be a focus on American Tall Tales and Legends.

 

 * We will have a unit project. 

 

Quarter 3: Simple Machines

 

--- There will be focus on the types and functions of simple machines.

 

* We will have a unit project.

Quarter 4: American Government

                       

--- There will be a focus on Colonization, Declaration of Independence, American Revolution, and the 3 Branches of                              Government.

 

* We will try to schedule a field trip to one of the local legal courts or have one of the attorneys from the Attorney General's Office to come and speak to the students.

 

**We will have a unit project.
